Retrospective Of 2019

I notice that now, at the end of the year, whether it's bloggers, vloggers, newspapers, or I don’t know what, everyone is tempted to look at the past year and to recall the most beautiful moments. So I thought I'd do this retrospective of 2019 and tell you the most beautiful moments - or give some cracks.

It's been another year, and here I am, reminding myself of my travels over the last 12 months, and oh boy, I feel so pumped to buy some new tickets for some great new destinations! Every time I get to write about them, I try to be melancholy, happy and looking forward to the following vacation plans. I have nothing to do, so I am always looking to get my luggage ready and a new stamp on my passport.

First of all, people usually ask me how many countries I have visited. It is not a goal to visit as many countries, and I also do not want to reach all countries of the world (but if that happens, I will not be upset). Yes, these days, I passed 30, and I know for a full-time travel blogger that might not seem much, but for me, that’s impressive, based on the fact that I never traveled abroad until I was 21.

In January, nothing exciting happened, I just went back to Bucharest for a long weekend, but I got to experience the famous frozen rain.

In February, I flew to meet with Soumit and his future wife in India to celebrate their wedding, and in March, I went back to Romania to help out with some paperwork. India, in 2019 was phenomenal, especially that I got to experience more local flavors. We initially traveled to the Gujarat region for the wedding, and from there, we moved to the Rajasthan area, which is one of the most touristic in India. We made an exciting road trip between Jaipur, Agra, and New Delhi, and I got to spend my birthday morning in the Taj Mahal. This is a birthday anniversary hard to forget!

As already mentioned, March was just another 3-hour flight to Bucharest and smuggling a lot of food on my way back, thanks to my dear grandmother. But this time I took a road trip with my friends, and we ended up at Castelul de Lut.

In April, I flew back to Asia, but this time to Vietnam, where we made a full trip to the country. We rented scooters in each city, managed to have an accident, but all it’s fine, I was like the Statue of Liberty holding my phone in my hand…I can break a leg, but the phone needs to be safe! 😊 #priorities

This trip really opened my appetite to visit Asia a bit more, as everything is magnificent here. We didn’t get into much trouble, to be honest, except that small accident. We relaxed a lot and managed to eat the best local foods ever in places that even some of our guides said they never been and that they aren’t sure if it was healthy for us.

On the way back in May, we did a layover in my favorite city in the world, London! Now that I mentioned it, I realized I hadn’t written much about London, so I will make sure I will cover it in the next few months, as I am going back again this year!

In June, I convinced (it took less than a second!) my friend Mary to join me in a Spice Girls concert in Manchester, so I was back in the UK for a couple of days, and from there I went back to Romania, with Experience Bucharest. This is an independent company that is trying very hard to promote my beautiful country, and I think the work Alu did this year is impressive. Yes, this was in July, by this time all my plans for Iceland were arranged, so in August I did some small staycations to Tilburg and Utrecht.

Mid-September I was so excited (just like a kid on Christmas eve) for my road trip around circle ring in Iceland. I wrote so much about Iceland just because I was impressed, and it looks like you are on a different planet.

October came with a beautiful and warm trip to Greece, where I spent a week with my mom in Nafpatkos and Athens. However, in November, I flew to Basel to finally see Switzerland. December was the hardest month, as always full of travels. I went to Colmar and Strasbourg for the Christmas market; however, I didn’t give up on my favorite German markets and visit a small one in the small city of Bochum, where I saw a flying Santa! Of course, Romania is a much before Christmas holidays with all the goodie bags grandma prepared.

Yeah, pretty much this is it! It was a great year, with exciting adventures but also a lot of relaxing time.
