Ellis Gourmet Burger Amsterdam

That piece of juicy meat, grilled, with a garnish of sauces and salads, between two slices of fresh bread and fried potatoes ... Hmmm, you know what I'm talking about! THE burger! When someone says burger, my ears can pick the word super-fast, and all my senses wake up instantly. I'm a little ashamed, the burger is a kind of guilty pleasure, but my gourmet genes make me find it everywhere. And I think I'm not the only one, exactly, I'm convinced there are many like me, so I thought I'd share my experience at Ellis Gourmet Burger in Amsterdam.

I will not say it's on my top personal experiences because lately, I realized that tastes are different and can be perceived differently by other burger consumers. Maybe when I ate a good burger in a specific place, I had a great day, and I thought I was ecstatic when I took the first bite, or maybe an excellent burger didn't tell me much because in that day it was raining and nothing could erase the depression caused by the Dutch weather.

.About the location

The location is right behind the big church in the Dam. Of course, this is just one of the places in Amsterdam, or even in the whole country, this is a preeeety big brand, in case you wonder. The restaurant is cozy, with sitting outside and inside, which offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy a sunny day…if any in Amsterdam!

.About the services

I went for lunch on a Sunday evening. Of course, it was a sunny day (as almost never in Amsterdam); hence a lot of people decided to have a late lunch, and when I stepped inside the restaurant, there were no clients. I liked my quiet time, and by the time I finished, the place was full, and even someone took our table the second I stood up to get dressed.

.About the food

I like that the burgers will be for everyone's taste. I saw the classic options, the vegan option, the Asian option, the meat lover option, and my favorite…the blue cheese madness! By the way, did you ever had Poutine? It was my first try out, and I loved it. It's a Canadian side dish, as fresh fries with "gravy" cheese and spring onions. It sounds delicious. And of course, if you have a burger, what better dessert than an Ellis Super Bowl with ice-cream, caramel and sea salt, macarons, and caramel sauce and crunches.

.About my experience

As a food blogger, I go to many places, and I try to evaluate locations, based on experience and taste, which in the end, I always did, even before becoming a blogger. That being said, I would like to say that even though there was a miss understanding with regards to my reservation, the waiter managed to be on top of everything and help out with that. I would definitely recommend to go and have a look for yourselves.

With love from Amsterdam,

Gabriela
