Cities Where Is Cheap To Drink
/As almost any European traveler I am a big fan of city trips. Whenever I can, I just jump in a plane, train or even car and off I go. I am always looking for the most delightful cafes and restaurants; otherwise, I wouldn't be a real foodie, right, dear reader?
But if you go to famous big cities, like London, Paris, or Rome, you also need to pay the price. Therefore, I decided to make a list of other beautiful towns where you can drink and eat cheap and of course…delicious! Curious, which are the ones? 'Let's look together on the list
1. Timisoara, Romania
Of course, I will start with my own country, my dear and lovely Romania. I always say to everyone I meet: "You should definitely visit Romania, 'it's breath-taking. Let me know if you want me to plan something for you!"
Timisoara has been declared the European Capital of Culture in 2021, so 'it's time to visit now before it becomes mainstream. You will see a city full of history, lovely, unpolished, with a baroque style.
2. Brno, Czech Republic
In the southeast of the Czech Republic, you will find Brno, the second-largest city in the country. It is a relaxed city with soft green and orange roofs, castles, and fortresses. On top of the hill, a beautiful church, the Peter and Paul Church watch over Brno. In this city, you will find, among other things, the second-largest art museum in the Czech Republic, the Moravian Gallery. Among cities where you can drink cheaply, you should not forget this: the Czech Republic is the cheap beer country, and Brno is even cheaper than Prague. Besides, Brno is also a real wine town!
3. Gdansk, Poland
Gdansk is a picturesque city with bell gables, half-timbered houses, curly lanterns, and traditional cafés. Known as 'little Bruges on the Baltic Sea.' This city is also known for the revolution that started here: in 1980 Lech Walesa set up his half-bound trade union on the ship's work, which opposed the communist regime. In Gdansk, vodka and beer tours are offered everywhere.
4. Varna, Bulgaria
Want to party? Then Varna is a top destination. It is a relaxed seaside resort and port on the Black Sea where you can still enjoy fine temperatures in September. Varna is a fascinating, alienating mix of beach bars and churches, of religion and worldly festivity, with an extensive nightlife (beach clubs, cafes) and a fuzzy flea market.
5. Porto, Portugal
Time for a city trip to Portugal! To that beautiful Portuguese town with the soft-colored houses on the Douro to be precise. Porto is exceptionally picturesque: the boats in the river, the old tramway, the floral balconies on the Rua das Flores, slightly on the water's edge. Besides, Porto is really a food city with so much good (buying) food, so much affordable Vinho Verde.
6. Skopje, Macedonia
Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, is intriguing: it is a crossroads between east and west, between churches and mosques, bazaars and shopping centers. In other words, an enchanting city with something for everyone! With an overwhelming urban renewal project, the city tries to shake off the vandalism of the 1963 earthquake and communist gray-headedness. Do not forget to taste the cheap local wines!
7. Debrecen, Hungary
In Hungary, you can drink cheaply in many places. Debrecen is undoubtedly one of them. Debrecen is the second city in Hungary and is located in the middle of the Puszta. An old artisan and university city with Calvinistic roots, where the Dutch feel right at home. Hungary has been participating for years in the top five cheap beer countries. When it comes to the presence of wine bars, unique beer, and nightlife, the country is always there on top.
