Ultimatum: The 5 Reasons To Stop Drinking Cola And How To Never Drink Cola And Pepsi Again!

Lately, you will notice, dear reader, that it's recommended by many influencers not to drink Cola, or even more general to replace any type of soda with water and healthy smoothies, but it will not always be easy for you or me or anybody in general, to take this step back and give up to the dark soft drink, because of the addiction created. The reasons why you should not drink Cola are very serious!

I used to occasionally have a glass or two of Cola. In my home country, Pepsi Cola is producing this variation called Pepsi Twist, which is a normal Pepsi with a twist of lemon taste. That sounds awesome and believe me, dear reader, it’s really good, but it’s not healthy at all. So, last year, as one of my yearly resolutions, I decided together with my boyfriend to try not to have any type carbonated drinks available for consumption.

This is a bit harder than expected and after almost a month, I feel some withdrawal signs, like the constant need to go to soda drinks area in the store (I do it unconsciously!) or to check the door fridge where we used to have 2-3 bottles waiting for us to drink them.

 

How did I do it?

What can I tell you, the first week was terrible! I tried to stop drinking Cola a few times already, but every time I was dreaming rivers of the magical drink, which was flowing in a glass and it was coming with the cold sound of ice cubes filed in the gas from the drink, instead of the normal sound of the river’ waves.

After two more weeks, I was ready to surrender. Everywhere I was looking, it was a commercial of a discount to a Cola/Pepsi bottle and was making my unsatisfied craving for the drink so bad, that I almost gave up.

But then, after a while, the crave just faded away! I didn’t think about drinking Cola, and it came out of my habit to order it when I was going out, so I managed somehow to break the deep connection between the taste of the divine licorice.

You know, dear reader, Ehow.com says “In 1886, when John Pemberton invented Cola, the drink contained extract of coca leaves and cola nuts”. Since then, the recipe has changed many times, but Cola has remained popular among people, although it's not healthy at all. There are plenty of reasons why you should not drink Cola, but sometimes you decide to forget about them and continue to order this unhealthy soft drink. Both the big companies Coke Cola and Pepsi Cola are ignoring all the unhealthy reasons of why this drink is not good for the common population, and since the drink creates an addiction, the profits of the companies are getting higher and higher, but this is not the subject of this article. So, with no further due:

 

5 reasons to stop drinking Cola

1 It creates addiction. You should not drink Cola anymore because it contains caffeine, a substance that acts as a stimulant and gives you temporary energy. But too much caffeine can increase your tension and lead to fatigue.

2 It helps you gain weight. A study at a Texas University showed that carbonated beverages, including those of "diet", are increasing the risk of fattening or obesity. According to eMedExpert, every glass of carbonated drink increases the risk of obesity by 1.6 times. Cola has a small number of nutrients, but many calories.

3 Dehydration. When you think not to drink Cola, think about that it will not help at all when you are thirsty! Caffeine is a diuretic and increases urinary frequency, so you'll dehydrate. When you're thirsty, just drink water!

4 It damaged bones. According to Quality Health, drinking carbonated drinks leads to lower bone density and increases the risk of osteoporosis. Phosphoric acid from Cola interferes with the ability of the bones to absorb calcium. Also, acid can erode teeth enamel.

5 It causes affections to your body. The carbonated drinks increase the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. It's preferable not to drink Cola, because it can lead to cirrhosis and acidity affects your digestive system. Other possible conditions include blood pressure irregularities and kidney stones.

 

It’s been a year now and while going back to a place I always had Cola, the waiter just remembered my usual order and brought it to me. I took it, I didn’t want to be rude and say, “yeah, I don’t drink Cola anymore, you should pay for it!” I took it very politely and while taking the first zip, to my surprise, the taste was very sweet, too sweet I can say and I felt a weird pain in my teeth and suddenly I was so thirsty. I was not even able to finish the glass, so I asked for some water.

 

I think that how I got rid of my addiction! You will not realize how bad something is doing to your mind and body until you managed to put it aside for a while, either because you chose to do it or because you had to do it! It's a pity that most of these drinks seem absolutely delicious and tempting at first, and then they catch you in their nets before you realize that you're on the wrong path and you will most likely shorten your life.
