June Small Goals

When you say you want to do something, do you trust yourself enough to make it happen? How well did I trust myself in May? Pretty good I would say.

This is how I did in May:

  1. Read one book. Done. I bought a book in October last year, before our trip to Hong Kong. Having a 12 hours flight, I considered this will be entertaining, but then again, I don’t know what was on my mind, I usually sleep even if it’s an hour flight. I can’t explain how and why, but for me the moment I stepped in the plane, I start to get sleepy and sometimes I fall asleep even before the take off. Then I took the same book, to Madrid, Prague, Bucharest and Paris. Always sleeping, never reading! Back to the book. The book it’s called The Singles Game and it’s written by no other than Lauren Weisberger, the best selling author of The Devil Wears Prada. The book’s narrative is all about a tennis player that decides to go for Grand Slam titles and Page Six headlines and her life changes completely once that decision has been made. I will not spoil the book, but for sure if you want a light book, this is a good option.
  2. Have a Ladies Night with the girls from the department. Done. It was really fun. In Netherlands every month, on a Wednesday there is Ladies Night at the movies. This month it was Snatched, a movie about a girl that decides to travel in Panama with her mom. The movie it’s really funny, but the best part was all our 11 girls decided to join the event. We had dinner before in a Mexican restaurant with a few Marguerites’, which made the atmosphere really amusing. Once we got in the cinema, we had Proseco, therefore at the end of the day we were very tipsy.
  3. Run in the Color Run Amsterdam. Done. I went with one of my colleagues from work. The funny part, both our partners didn’t want to join, but we were so determined, we bought tickets a month in advance. Unfortunately, one day prior, I got injured, while I was biking to go zipling, hence, there was more walking than running. Needless to say, it was fun at the party, after the run.
  4. Talk more with my long distance friends. Done. Since I moved in The Netherlands, I tried writing letters to my friends back home in Romania, but really didn’t work out. In a year, I managed to write 3 letters (I know, shame on me!) This has changed for the past month, I managed to write 2 letters only in May. The month it’s not over, I will go write another one just now, after I finish with this post. Monica, wait for me! Additionally, I visited my friends in Paris. I went for a day and had lunch with them. Too bad not everyone managed to join!
  5. Go for a run/swim in the morning. Also done! WoW, I crossed all my list for May! Even if it’s in the weekend and my initial though was more related to week days, still an improvement. Being able to finally cross all the items on the list for this month, for June, I will add one more item, to see if I can stick with 6 goals in a month.

I will not bother you again with things that I read about how people get determined to do things, therefore, here are my 6 goals for June:

  1. Only hit the snooze button twice.
  2. Try Meatless Mondays.
  3. Double the time spent outside.
  4. Lower the daily sugar intake.
  5. Take a full day off from social media.
  6. Start a journal with all the recipes I cook.

Let’s go, new month, new goals!
